DANDAN and Hopwood middle schools remain the top teams in the boys middle school division of the SBL-PSS Interscholastic Softball League SY23-24 as they each notched their fifth win at the Dandan baseball field on Saturday.

DMS had a late-game scare but managed to stand their ground to defeat Tanapag Middle School, 13-8.

DMS showcased their skills right from the start. The bases were quickly filled as the first three at bat each connected singles. Keyven Cruz followed up with a  fourth consecutive single, this time bringing in a runner for an RBI.

The runs continued to come as TMS failed to find the strike zone, walking the next seven batters before they could stop the bleeding while only scoring one run in the opening inning.

DMS added two more runs in the bottom of the second while TMS were left silent for the next three innings and were at risk of losing early by virtue of the 10-run mercy rule.

But in the the top of the fifth, TMS suddenly found their second wind, scoring five runs. Led by Avenbert Kaipat’s RBI double, they kept the ball game going even though they were still down, 6-13.

TMS managed to shut down DMS’ on the offensive end for the rest of the game, but they could squeeze in two runs only in the sixth and seventh innings, and had to settle for defeat, 8-13.
