JOE Palacios, who has served as CNMI Cannabis Commission chairman, was sworn in again by Gov. Arnold I. Palacios on Thursday after the Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation confirmed his reappointment to the commission.

Joe Palacios was first appointed by the governor in May 2023 to fill the seat vacated by former Chairwoman Nadine Deleon Guerrero, who resigned before the end of her term on Sept. 30, 2023. Palacios was then elected chairman of the commission.

After serving until Sept. 30, 2023, Joe Palacios was renominated to serve his own four-year term.

On Thursday, all the 18 Saipan delegation members present voted to confirm Joe Palacios’ renomination. Vice Speaker Joel Camacho, Reps. Ralph N. Yumul and John Paul Sablan were excused.

Christine Fitial, the Office of the Governor communications specialist, spoke on behalf of the governor and Lt. Gov. David M. Apatang, extending their appreciation and gratitude, especially to Senate President Edith Deleon Guerrero, who chairs the legislative delegation’s Executive Appointment and Government Investigation Committee, for the time and effort in reviewing the nomination of Joe Palacios.

His swearing-in ceremony took place in the afternoon at the governor’s office.
