Autopsy planned for body found in Mangilao

HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — The Guam Police Department has confirmed that a body was discovered in the backyard of a Mangilao home on Saturday, but the cause of death remains unknown.

At 7 a.m. Saturday, police officers responded to a home on Dimas Street in Mangilao along Route 15, and began their investigation. Later that afternoon, GPD spokesperson Officer Berlyn Savella confirmed that “a lifeless man was found behind a residence.”

No further details about the man or the event that transpired leading to his death were provided by authorities, who noted that the “investigation continues and remains open.”

The case is being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Unit. However, police were unable to confirm if foul play was suspected.

The case currently is classified as an “expired persons call.”

Savella, however, did state “a tentative date for an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday at 9 a.m.”
