‘Paskong Pinoy’ draws large crowd

ON Dec. 10, 2023,  “Paskong Pinoy” was held in the Marianas Business Plaza parking lot in Susupe from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and drew a large crowd. The event commenced with an invocation from Bishop Ryan Jimenez, followed by the singing of the Philippine, U.S., and CNMI anthems led by the Tubera siblings, Lawrence and Justin.

United Filipino Organizations acting President Mario Mayuga welcomed everyone and thanked the sponsors and volunteers for their untiring support.

Through the annual Paskong Pinoy, UFO aims to spread the spirit of Christmas by providing a whole day of fun-filled holiday activities.

This year’s major sponsors were TSL Foundation, RNV Construction, and IT&E. The performers and entertainers this year were Erma Tubera, Princess Nicole Rigua, Roanne Palma, Precy Villafuerte, Villy Pineda, Juliana Kai Ortiz, Angelee Agdoro, Groove Theory, Unshakable Band, GCA Tambourine Group, Shane Sabino, Donnel Isip, Ronilo De Belen, Elmer Belgado, Hapi D’Clown, Fitbeat Familia, Saipan Ballroom Dancers with Zin JoApple, Sessionista Band, and Micronesian Cultural Club.

The on-the-spot Lantern winners were: 1st place, Ruel Nava; 2nd place, Extreme 670; and 3rd place, Carlito Pabilando Jr.

In the caroling contest, the Green Meadow School Falcons were the clear winners with no other competitors joining in this year’s event.

For their part, Extreme Fitness 670 won the adult dance contest as the sole participants.

The highlight of this year’s Paskong Pinoy was the “Kwarta o Kahon” (Money or Box) game. Annibelle Lopena made it through the elimination round, but failed to win the $500 jackpot prize. Instead, she received a $50 gift certificate from JET Holding Co. The $500 jackpot prize was then raffled with 10 lucky winners receiving $50 each and the rest of the prizes inside the boxes.

This year’s event was hosted by Annamae Adaza and RV Caberos.

UFO’s member organizations are Bayani Association, Bicol Association, Marianas Association of Filipino Engineers and Architects, Marianas Institute of Filipino CPA’s & Accountants, MDX Radio Group, Northern Marianas Bartenders Association, Saipan Building & Fixing Computers User Group, Santo Niño Group, and Tau Gamma Phi Treskelion.
