A major private construction firm is offering its help to immediately restore power on Guam which was badly battered by typhoon Chataan over the weekend.
Telesource CNMI, Inc. project coordinator Mike Fitzgerald, who is also vice president of the Commonwealth Telecommunications Commission, said their line crew are ready and prepared to help Guam. They also have extra materials for power distribution.
“We are ready to build and repair power distribution on Guam. Any recovery is the most important thing at this time,” Fitzgerald said.
He added that Telesource Guam is coordinating with the territory’s government to provide the necessary assistance.
Tinian, where Telesource is constructing the $20 million runway of the island’s international airport, did not experience any power outage when Chataan passed the Marianas.
“We don’t have any power outages on Tinian,” Fitzgerald said.
The firm offered the same help to the CNMI Commonwealth Utilities Corp. for its work on Rota. However, CUC had already completed the job as of today, according to Fitzgerald.
