CHCC official: No Covid-19 vaccines for children

She said the vaccine shots they expect to receive this month and in January 2021 are not for children.

“To date, very few children have been part of the clinical trials,” Muna added.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has yet to grant an emergency use authorization to the Covid-19 vaccine created by Pfizer and its partner, BioNTech.

Earlier, Muna said the goal of CHCC is to vaccinate 95% of the CNMI population.

She added that the CNMI will go beyond the minimum 70% needed for herd immunity.

She said CHCC will offer mass vaccinations similar to community-based testing. People will have to register first and get their schedule for vaccination, she added.

CHCC will also seek help from community partners and the CNMI government to ensure that more people will avail themselves of the vaccine.

Following the recommendation by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, CHCC will offer the vaccine to health workers and frontline responders first.
