The Northern Mariana Islands Football Association-Life in the Son Go the Xtra Mile Challenge started last week.

Its goal is to help motivate CNMI football players to cross-train and build endurance.

Participants use the Strava app, and every Monday, Strava resets the leaderboard. The top three NMIFA finishers will be selected based on the most miles ran/walked by Dec. 31. They will receive prizes.

Forty NMIFA members have joined the challenge with Anthony Fruit leading this week. He is participating in Germany where it is already winter.

Grabriel Arkoh is in second place with 16.7 miles; Joshua Abragan is in third  with 10.9 miles; Jireh Yobech, fourth, 10 miles; Dylan Mister, fifth, 6.3 miles; Kohtaro Goto, sixth, 5.9 miles; Dev Bachani, seventh, 4.7 miles; Yoshi Mufnas, eighth, 4.2 miles; John Bucayo, ninth, 3.2 miles; and Joshua Waldo, tenth, 2.8 miles.

Individuals, including non-NMIFA members, can still join and register for the Go the Xtra Mile Challenge anytime they are ready.

You can complete 50 miles or 100 miles on or before Dec 31 at your own pace and schedule.
