The Master plan study undertaken by PPUC was presented last week in a public hearing and dealt on the upgrading of Electric Power Supply in Palau.The study said that the deteriorating plants can result to load shedding which is unavoidable due to insufficient power capacity.The study said that power demand by 2010 will increase and predicts that power demand by 2025 will increase by 24.76 megawatt.The study also showed that the development plan of the new power stations said that by year 2013 said that the procurement of two diesel generators and auxiliary machinery and modification of the fuel storage and supply facilities and construction of the power house.The study also recommended improvement of operation and maintenance of power generation facilities.JICA also presented during the hearing the power transmission, distribution and substation system improvement plan.The recommended improvement plan includes compatibility with the power source development plan, power quality, power loss reduction , compatibility with the existing facilities, cost reduction talking into consideration PPUC financial situation.The study also included future development of the new capital.JICA said that the condition of the existing switchgears is not good, which makes a new substation necessary.
