Power Plant 1 has eight engines which all need overhaul.
Muna said the four engines that are operating “are also in need of overhaul work.”
These are engines #2, 3, 6, and 8.
Engines #2, 3, and 6, Muna said, are producing about 60 percent of their rated capacity.
Based on the June 5 CUC Power Generation Status report, engines #2 and 3 are producing only 5 megawatts of power each out of their 7.3 megawatts rated capacity.
Engine #2 has run for about 13,229.8 hours and engine #3 has run 25,031.6 hours as of their last overhaul.
Engine #8 is producing only 8-mw of power. It is designed to generate 13-mw.
Engine #6, which has a capacity of 13-mw, is producing 8-mw.
The unit was reported to have suffered water contamination in its turbocharger lube oil system after the replacement of its cooler.
