Smith said that work has started on May 19, 2008 and the estimated completion date is July 11.He said that facility is located right by the state office and that it is approximately 25 percent complete. He said the project was a request made by the state office but is being funded by the national government.Smith said that the total value of the project including material as well as the labor and equipment provided by CAT 133-24 is about $67,000.“The new facility replaces an unsanitary and environmentally hazardous outhouse which was previously the only public restroom facility for the Melekeok pier, beach and pavilion,” Smith said.He added that “the need for an environmentally-friendly and sanitary facility is clearly demonstrated by the large number of people, both visitors and Palauan citizens alike, who visit Melekeok on a daily basis.”
