The fatality was Amado Balisalisa, 47, of Schoofar Lane, lower Dandan. He worked at the Shell service station in Gualo Rai and had been in the CNMI for 26 years.
Tantiado said Balisalisa’s wife needs assistance to process the documents for transporting her husband’s body, which is still in the morgue of Guam Memorial Hospital, back to the Philippines.
“The family is asking for any financial support from the community,” Tantiado said, adding that their coalition is planning a fundraising campaign to help the Balisalisa family.
It was on Wednesday when Continental flight 890 made an emergency landing at the Guam International Airport to take Balisalisa to the nearest hospital after he suffered a heart attack.
His daughter, Mylene, said her parents were scheduled for an interview today with a U.S. immigration official for their permanent U.S. resident status. Her father died on June 18.
She said her mother is now on Guam to get her husband’s body.
Mylene Balisalisa said she has three older brothers — one is residing on Guam and the other two live here.
She said her father went back to the Philippines to undergo a heart bypass operation and was not on a vacation.
Last March, she added, her father was admitted to the Commonwealth Health Center for three weeks and was referred to Manila for further medical treatment.
“We thought he was ready to come back to Saipan,” she told Variety.
