This time, at least six departments of the CHC benefited from the donations, according to Kim Prinz-Coats, CHC Volunteers Association president
An Okinawan resident who was born on Tinian and a frequent visitor of the CNMI, Choken Ginoza, donated $500 to the home-dialysis department, and the fund was used to purchase a cannulation arm as requested by Granya Shearer, the hemo-dialysis department head.
This piece of equipment, according to Prinz-Coats, is used to train hemo-dialysis nursing staff in inserting a fisula into a patient’s arm so they can be dialyised.
Public Health Secretary Joseph Kevin P. Villagomez, Deputy Secretary for Hospital Administration Joseph C. Santos, and Deputy Secretary for Public Health Lynn Tenorio received the donations.
Prinz-Coats told Variety they donated supplies and equipment as requested by CHC based on its priorities and needs.
The OB-GYN department received one television set from Dr. Vincent Stravino, as well as a DVD player and a cart from the CHC Volunteers Association.
The emergency room headed by unit manager Joey Cameron and nurses Josephine Oricia and Flor Molina received two blood sugar monitors, one printer, a scanner, a fax machine from the National Office Supply, one wheelchair and one wheelchair oxygen carrier.
The operating room headed by Romino Saimon and Janice Castro received two wheelchairs while pediatrics headed by Laurie Boyer and Jordan Danao, received two ink cartridges for their printer.
The labor and delivery department received one instamatic camera and film, and medical scale, while the hemo-dialysis headed by unit manager Jonny Aldan, got five wheelchairs, one cannulation arm and an IV stand.
C-Side nurses station headed by acting director of nursing Salome A. Castro received three wheelchairs.
Four quad canes were donated to the physical therapy unit headed by manager Pam Carhill, and one wheelchair was provided to the women’s clinic headed by Mila Cultura.
The laboratory department headed by unit manager John Duenas also received a “graduate,” a small measuring container.
John and Susan Schwarz worked tirelessly with the Your Special Needs Stores in Lafayette, Indiana to find the right wheelchairs for CHC, Prinz-Coats said in a statement.
The store owners, the Santiemmo couple, also donated four quad canes, one wheelchair oxygen carrier, a “graduate” and an IV stand, she said.
Prinz-Coats said CTSI Logistic paid for the shipment of the equipment and supplies.
