Muna said CUC has an ongoing discussion with Telesource but a particular date of payment is yet to be determined.
Last week, Senate Floor Leader Jude U. Hofschneider, R-Tinian, told the Variety that CUC will “come out on how to address the payment issue” with the Tinian power supplier.
Muna said he does not have plans to request funds from the federal government, adding that CUC would either produce the money from its revenue collections, or ask for financial assistance from the CNMI government.
“I’m sure the [central government is] going to provide the money,” the CUC chief stated, adding that the agency’s priority is fuel supply for Tinian power plant.
CUC owes Telesource $813,463.
Some Tinian households have no power service due to CUC’s debts to Telesource.
