Chin-Seid supporters cheer for Palau athletes

Palau’s Leon Mengloi a silver medalist in 2006 Oceania Championship in Samoa in two divisions, finished third in Men 100 Meters Sprint Open Octathlon during the opening events of this year Oceania tournament.

He completed the run in 11.79 seconds.

Mengloi came 54.18 seconds in the 400 Meter Sprint Open Octathlon, just a breath away to third place, Toriki Uraril of French Polynesia who finished 54.16.

The Saipan Committee to Elect Chin-Seid 2008 showed full support to their home-grown athletes led by manager, Russ Roman.

The committee headed by Joshua Tanaka, Carmin Tanaka and Nariany Sikyang trated the Palauan athletes and their manager for lunch at the Chalan Kanoa Beach during their first day on Saipan, and never missed the events in the Oceania tournaments to cheer for the countrymen.

The other Palauan athletes are Peoria Koshiba, Jesse Tamangro, Douglas Schmidt, John Stills Cyandall Williams and Lee Wan Manuel.

Tanaka and Sikyang’s group also launched a campaign rally earlier this month, to support Chin and Seid with dinner lavished with local foods from Saipan and fresh delicacies from Palau.

On behalf of the committee, Sikyang wants to “thank all the contributing individuals and agencies who made this rally truly an informative success for Palauan countrymen in Saipan.”
