Ada named interim NMC financial officer

NMC President Carmen Fernandez announced the new appointment to the faculty and college yesterday.

“We are pleased to have someone with Ms. Ada’s caliber join the NMC management team in this key role,” said Fernandez.

Ada’s previous service at CDA, ‘combined with her strong background in management and finance, will be an asset to the college as it continues its focus in meeting accreditation standards,” Fernandez added.

As the primary financial and administrative manager of the college, Ada will direct the operations of NMC’s finance and budget office, the human resources office, the financial aid office, the procurement office, the bookstore, and the operations and maintenance department.

Her duties include directing and coordinating NMC’s financial and investment activities, overseeing the preparation of annual budgets and other financial reports, and directing campus-wide activities to ensure compliance with accreditation standards, audit recommendations, and local and federal statutes.

Ada was CDA’s executive director from 1998 to 2005.

She also worked in other capacities for CDA — loan/accounting manager, development banking division loan officer, and loan assistant.

In addition, she served as corporate director of the Northern Marianas Housing Authority.

Ada earned her juris doctorate in 1994 from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and her bachelor’s science degree in political science in 1981 from the Oregon State University.
