Letter to the Editor: Pain and hardship

About last month we talked about the status of the rate from CUC and you mentioned that the Legislature was working on removing such rate, but within two weeks from that conversation the rate was raised to the point that those who have jobs are feeling the hardship of paying for their power bills. Imagine the reaction of those who are unemployed.

What is this administration trying to accomplish by killing the livelihood of the people?

As Mr. Muna mentioned in the June 9, 2008 article of Marianas Variety, the Fitial administration is the first to implement the full cost recovery for CUC. But Mr. Muna did not realize  that while we are all suffering he wants to raise the rate 100 percent.

Maybe it’s good for him because he can pay the amount of what he uses but what about the others who may face disconnection due to skyrocketing prices?

This administration should start raising the salaries of the employees first. They know for a fact that they still owe the employees for God knows how long.

Congressman Hocog, I believe that you can assist our people. The prices of commodities are so high that pretty soon we cannot even purchase a can of Spam. I put my faith and confidence in you to improve the living conditions of our people. Don’t let us  suffer for the rest of this administration’s term.

I don’t see any green pastures nor better times forthcoming. What I see is pain and hardship for all the people of the CNMI.

Spending millions of dollars from the federal government and no action is coming out from CUC’s contractors. Maybe it’s time for the FBI to investigate such projects to see if they are really doing what they are supposed to overhaul.

The people of the CNMI deserve better services and results from this administration not everyday power outages.
