Rotary Club of Saipan distributes over 200 pre-packed meals to manamko’

It has been the tradition of the Rotary Club of Saipan to provide the manamko’ with Thanksgiving meals, club secretary Irene Holl said.

She said the manamko’ center is still not open, but staff members will distribute the meals to the homes of each of the congregants.

“In the past, we used to go to the center to celebrate Thanksgiving with them,” Holl said. “We would  bring food and spend time with them, but the pandemic has prevented us from celebrating the holiday with them.”

Sonya Dancoe, Rotary Club of Saipan president, said club members went to the center to present the meals.

“Though we never get to see the manamko’, we Rotarians wish them a safe and memorable Thanksgiving,” she said.

“Our manamko’ are special. They guide us in life with their wisdom. In times like these, we must stay positive, live in the moment, help one another and protect ourselves as we head into the holiday season.”

Dancoe at the same time expressed appreciation to Office on Aging Director Walter Manglona and his staff members for taking care of the manamko’.
