Students join BOE in proclaiming November as Education Month

The proclamation called upon students, teachers and the entire staff of PSS and Parent-Teacher Associations to observe November with appropriate programs, activities and ceremonies in line with this year’s theme, “Connect the Stars of Education, Make the Constellation of Success.”

The students who took part in the reading of the proclamation via videoconference are theme contest winner Kaylee Pinaula of Marianas High School; logo making contest winner Janeeya Samson, Hopwood Middle School; essay writing contest winners Audrey Muna, of William S. Reyes Elementary School, Freya Greathouse of Rota High School, and Galyug Untalan of Tinian Elementary School; and CNMI Teacher of the Year Bonny Cruz, Koblerville Elementary School.

According to the proclamation, “Education is the cornerstone upon which our society is built and the CNMI’s most important resource is its children.”

PSS has designated the month of November to celebrate the accomplishments of students, teachers, teacher aides, support staff, and administrators. PSS also recognizes all schools, community members, and island leaders for their contribution to the development of the CNMI education system.

Education Commissioner Alfred B. Ada, BOE vice chairman Herman Atalig, board members Andrew Orsini and Antonio L. Borja as well as other PSS officials and staff attended the proclamation signing in person.

In attendance via videoconference were private school representative Dr. Galvin Deleon Guerrero, teacher representative Paul Miura, other PSS directors, principals, teachers and school staffers.
