Inos nominated to trial court

Fitial said Attorney General Matthew Gregory declined the nomination and instead recommended Perry B. Inos.

Inos will serve a six-year term if confirmed by the Senate.

“I am confident that Mr. Inos is well qualified and will be a valued asset to the commonwealth judiciary,” the governor said in his letter to the Senate.  “Copies of his resume, statement of financial interest, drug test receipt and drug test results will be provided to you soon.  If you require additional information, please do not hesitate to contact my office. I respectfully request your favorable action on this nomination.”

Press Secretary Charles P. Reyes Jr. said the nominee has been a practicing attorney for nearly 14 years and has been involved in a variety of criminal, corporate, family and civil cases.

Inos used to be a teacher before he received his law degree from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 1994.

He briefly worked as an assistant attorney general for the criminal division and as associate attorney at the Law Office of John A. Manglona who is now an associate justice of the CNMI Supreme Court.

Inos is the son of Rota Mayor Joseph S. Inos, the governor’s party mate.

“Perry exemplifies the highest standards in integrity, and has significant experience in both the public and the private sectors,” the governor said.  “I am sure he will be a welcome addition to the bench.”

Attorney Inos, for his part, said: “I appreciate Governor Fitial’s confidence and I would be honored to serve

our community in this capacity if confirmed by the Senate.”

The nominee is married to Debra Inos and they have three children.
