The Rotary Club caging usually have 18-and-under players in the court.
League coordinator, Abner Venus said the BANMI has decided to add another age group to give younger teenagers the chance to participate in the league.
The Division 1 consists of players 12 to 14 years and the Division 2 consists of youths 15 to 18.
BANMI president, Elias Rangamar said managers of 10 teams have already expressed interest to join this year’s league. In the previous leagues, he said 14 teams usually joined.
Rangamar said he will call a meeting with other organizers and interested managers on July 7.
The summer league schedule that usually starts early in June has to be moved later next month due to many other important sports events.
However, the league is still open to those who are interested to join. They can submit to BANMI all necessary documents like birth certificate or proof of age, waiver, forms and $200 entrance fee.
The BANMI sanctioned summer league was rescheduled to give way to the 2008 Oceania Under 18 and Open Area Championship and 2008 Oceania Grand Prix Series that will be held from June 21 to 28, the Asia Pacific Regional Baseball Tournament on June 25 and on July 6 and the celebration of the Liberation Day on July 4.
“We have to push it back until all these big events are done. I think it just makes sense to wait for all these to finish,” Rangamar said.
Among the teams that joined last year were Sonics, Sixers and the defending champion, Junior Nationals.
