NOLAN Cultura is ending the year with a bang after clinching the title of Saipan Vegas Christmas Pool Tournament held last Sunday at the New Bamboo Bar.
Cultura’s journey started with the rest of the 16 competitors vying for the title. Every game was intense with each player playing smart using, not only offense, but defense to gain every advantage to set up for the win.
Cultura’s first opponent was Rowel Mariano. They battled back and forth with Marianas playing defense with the focus on leaving Cultura with no clear lanes for no easy shots. However, Cultura overcame Mariano’s strategy in the end moving deeping into the winner’s bracket and sending Mariano into the loser’s bracket. He continued to face Roman Rodriguez where he triumphed and pushed through against Jerry Soriano to remain undefeated sitting at the championship round.
Jerry Soriano, who was sent to fight in the pits of the loser’s bracket by Cultura, made sure his efforts did not go unnoticed. Soriano battled Dean Borja and came out victorious sending Borja home and carried his momentum over to face Rolly Villanueva which ended in a similar result to return back into the winner’s bracket to face Cultura in a vengence match.
Despite Soriano’s comeback, Cultura remained cool and continued to do what he does best and that is to excel under pressure keeping the offensive control to overhelm Soriano taking the win and the title of championof the Christmas Pool Tournament. Cultura went home with the 1st place title and $500 cash prize.
Soriano settled for second place with the $250 cash prize followed by Villanueva at third place with $100 voucher for Saipan Vegas.
