‘A Christmas Village on the Hill’ to open on Nov. 29

Due to the  Covid-19 pandemic, the 2020 Christmas Village will have a “drive-thru” setup to ensure that community members follow the protocols on social distancing.

The Christmas Village will open with a tree lighting ceremony at the Office of the Governor on Sunday.

About 50 government and non-government organizations and business partners will participate in the Christmas Village, a tradition Mrs. Torres has initiated since 2016.

“Bring your family and friends to kick off the holiday cheer,” she said on her Facebook post. She also reminded  community members to wear a face mask.

“2020 has been a challenging year globally, but we are blessed to be able to celebrate the holiday season like this in one of the safest places in the U.S. from the Covid-19 pandemic,” Mrs. Torres said in a statement.

Santa Claus will join the event, and there will be free popcorn for community members who will drive through the Christmas Village from Building Blocks 1200 to 1300, which will feature special holiday decorations.

“Let’s brighten this challenging year with Christmas cheer on the hill,” Mrs. Torres added.

Participants include the following community and business organizations:

Fiesta Resort & Spa

Herman’s Bakery
