Governor: ‘Appreciate the little things’

“I just wanted to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving and thank our dear Lord for everything we have in our lives, regardless of the challenges,” he said.

The governor also expressed his gratitude for what the Commonwealth does not have.

“What I mean by that is, as we see around the world, regarding Covid-19, we are safe,” he said.

He likewise expressed his gratitude to the community, private partners, and first responders for their collaborative efforts in keeping the CNMI safe.

“I just wanted to thank everyone and spend this time…to just appreciate the little things in our life. I know that we have a lot of challenges — each one of us [has] our own different challenges, but put that aside for this weekend, appreciate the little things and spend time with your families and loved ones,” he said.

Regarding public gatherings during the Thanksgiving weekend, the governor reminds the community to be vigilant and not let their guard down.

“As a community, we have done our share. Our first responders are at the airport doing [Covid-19] testing…. We have all done an exceptional job,” he added.

He said it is important that everyone continues to follow the Covid-19 guidelines and directives by observing social distancing, wearing masks, practicing proper hygiene and sanitation.

“This weekend, whether you are spending time with your families…try to continue to wear a mask as much as you can, try to do social distancing as much as you can, and at the same time, I also ask that each one of us take the time to appreciate what we have here on our islands,” he said.
