Paula Bermudes-Castro appointed congressional district director

Bermudes fills the position left vacant by the recent passing of Peter Michael Tenorio, who had served U.S. Congressman Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan as district director since January 2009.

The district director is responsible for a staff of seven and the congressional offices on Rota, Tinian, and Saipan. She coordinates the work of all three offices responding to inquiries and requests for assistance, helps the congressman in his meetings with constituents, and represents the congressman in the Marianas, when he is at work in Washington.

In announcing the decision to promote from within to fill the important post of district director, Congressman Sablan’s Chief of Staff Bob Schwalbach noted Ms. Bermudes-Castro’s long experience managing district office operations and that she had been acting district director during Mr. Tenorio’s illness.

“We look forward to a smooth transition,” he said. “Congressman Sablan’s constituents will continue to receive the high level of attention and support they have come to expect from their congressional office.”
