Joeten Motors donates 2020 Honda Insight to Rotary Club golf tournament

Rotary Club president Sonya Dancoe said the club hosted the golf tournament in the past, but “it was stopped for a while.”

This year, because of the Covid-19 pandemic and directives on social gathering and social distancing, Dancoe said they had to cancel their popular annual fundraising event, Las Vegas Night.

“So we will bring back the golf tournament because it is more feasible now,” she said.

Rotary Club member Das Krishnan, said they are expecting 120 players to participate in the event. The registration fee is $120.

He said the Rotary Club also received donations from other businesses, including McDonald’s and Pacifica Insurance, which each  donated $5,000 to the golf tournament.

“We are looking at about $80,000 worth of prizes,” he added. “Other companies are donating other stuff. Everybody who participates in this fundraising is a partner and will help us achieve our goal.”

Dancoe said the proceeds will finance various Rotary Club community projects, including island beautification, scholarships and the global project of eradicating polio.

Registration for the golf tournament is extended to Friday, Sept. 25.

Registration forms are available at Fiesta Resort and LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort.
