LEAVING behind the sun-kissed shores of the island, Diana Silveira’s heart weighs heavy as she embarks on a new chapter. However, it is not just the tranquil beaches and vibrant culture that she will bid farewell to; it is the pitter-patter of paws and wagging tails that tug at her heartstrings the most. Tapo, a wise and loyal German Shepherd of seven, and Roxy, a spirited companion at six, will remain behind.
She hopes members of the community will give her dogs their next forever homes.
“They are healthy, loving and energetic babies,” she said.
For those planning a new beginning in distant lands, parting ways with their loyal companions is an anguish difficult to bear. The lack of pet-friendly airlines serving this island paradise leaves Silveira and countless other individuals headed abroad with no choice but to entrust their furry friends to the care of others.
“I have been trying to rehome them since May, but without success. I am very anxious and stressed because I have not found them a home,” she said.
A teacher and photographer, Silveria hopes the dogs will be adopted together but she also welcomes individuals who would take the dogs separately as long as they give them a safe, comfortable, and happy place to live in.
If you want to adopt the dogs, call Silveira at (670) 789-4122.
Tapo is a seven-year-old German Shepherd with Doberman breed.
Roxy is six years old.
