A delivery truck of a water company slammed into the power pole, he added. “The power pole was completely damaged and we had to repair it,” he said. The incident happened at around 9:30 in the morning.

CUC dispatched a crew to the area, and power was restored in the affected areas at around 12 noon. These included Lower Base, the Botanical Garden, As Matuis, Chalan Kiya, parts of Dandan, Koblerville, Chalan Kanoa and Finasisu.

Also on Friday, Camacho said CUC had to fix a broken 16-inch water pipe in the mainline on Chalan Monsignor Road. This caused water service interruption from the Mobil gas station in Chalan Kiya to Atkins Kroll and neighboring areas, he added.

Meanwhile, Camacho said CUC continues to do everything it can to provide essential utility services as the CNMI grapples with the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Water, wastewater and power services are essential especially now, so CUC will continue to assist in the fight against Covid-19,” he said.
