THE Survivors continued their slow climb up the 2023 Tan Holdings Saipan Baseball League standings after notching their third win of the season by beating the Blue Jays, 9-6, on Tuesday at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field.
The Survivors’ Austin Hocog drew first blood with an RBI single to give his team the lead, 1-0.
But the Blue Jays quickly evened the score after second at bat, Russel Hocog, earned an RBI single. The team rode the momentum into the second inning by capitalizing off the Survivors’ error in the bottom half to extend the deficit, 2-1.
However, in the third inning, the Blue Jays failed to find the strike zone and walked four batters, all of whom eventually made their way home, thanks to JT Tydingco’s two-RBI single as the Survivors seized the lead 6-2.
The Blue Jays retaliated with two runs in the bottom of the third inning, but the Survivors stayed afloat with two runs — one earned — in the top of the fifth.
The Blue Jays answered with a single run to cut the lead, 5-8.
Both teams scored in the sixth inning but after a silent seventh and final inning, the Survivors emerged victorious, 9-6.
The Survivor’s Austin Hocog rounds the bases during a game against the Falcons in the 2023 Tan Holdings Saipan Baseball League at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field.
