Recently, the Department of Public Safety reported two attempted kidnapping incidents involving children in Dandan.
“If you see something, say something,” said Ada who was visiting Saipan Southern High School on Wednesday.
Saipan Southern High School principal Vince Dela Cruz said they can ensure that the school is a safe place for students, but outside its premises, parents and other members of the community should look after the students.
Dela Cruz encourages parents to walk with their children to a bus shelter, and stay there until the bus arrives.
Parents must also pick up their children once the classes are over, he added.
Ada advises parents to contact their children every hour, if possible.
“Everyone has a phone. Contact your child and ask them where they are or who they are with,” he added.
As for students, the commissioner said they should always stay with other students, especially outside school while waiting for the school bus or their parents to pick them up.
