The, Northern Marianas Sports Association received $2,824.18 while the Micronesia Islands Nature Alliance, the Salvation Army, the Autism Society of the CNMI, and the CHC Volunteers Association received $2,000 each.
Nick Nishikawa, Hyatt Regency Saipan general manager, said the donations were made possible because of the local community’s support for the 23rd Hyatt Charity Golf Tournament in April 2019.
“We want to celebrate the people here in the CNMI, and that’s why we decided to hold a [fundraising event] for community organizations,” he added.
“After the typhoons in 2018, we have gone through many things, but hopefully [through this donation], the community will have a great 2020,” he said.
On behalf of MINA, its executive director Roberta Guerrero thanked Hyatt for choosing their group as one of the beneficiaries.
“Thank you, Hyatt Regency, for giving us this opportunity to continue the work that we do here and for the environment of the CNMI,” she said, adding that the hotel is one of MINA’s great corporate partners.
“We always get great support from them and we really appreciate it,” she said.
CHC Volunteers Association vice president, John Bolis Gonzales said they are “extremely grateful” for Hyatt’s donation which will further improve the facilities of the Commonwealth Health Center.
“We have a wish list for our public hospital, and it includes surgery beds, x-ray beds, and televisions for each room — all of which will cost us about $400,000 to $500,000. This money [donated by Hyatt] will help us meet our target amount,” Gonzales said.
Romeo Cuellar, Autism Society of the CNMI vice president, said they are proud to be among the recipients of Hyatt’s donations.
“On behalf of the Autism Society of the CNMI, I would like to thank Hyatt for this generous donation,” he added.
