The Friends of the Arts production of ‘Miracle on 34th Street: The Musical’

This exciting and heart-warming play, book and score by Meredith Willson, will be performed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week (Jan. 22, 23 and 24). “Miracle on 34th Street: The Musical,” a family-oriented play, suitable for adults and youth of all ages, is directed by Harold Easton with music direction by Katie Hoyt and produced by Susan Fishman-Tudor for this Friends of the Arts production.

“Miracle on 34th Street: The Musical” is based on the 1947 American Christmas comedy-drama, that has brought pleasure to its viewers as a movie, as a play and as a musical for over 70 years.

In the play, an old man going by the name of Kris Kringle fills in for an intoxicated Santa in Macy’s annual Thanksgiving parade. Kringle proves to be such a hit that he is soon appearing regularly at the chain’s main store in midtown Manhattan. When Kringle surprises customers and employees alike by claiming that he really is Santa Claus, it leads to a court case to determine his mental health and, more importantly, his authenticity. Can his lawyer prove him to be the real Santa? Come and find out!

The play will be presented at the Garapan Central Park Roundhouse Theater. All three show dates will start at 7 p.m. Tickets prices for all four shows start at $5 for Students, $5 for FOA members, and $10 for Adults. You may purchase tickets from members of the play’s cast and at the door or reserve seats/tickets through Frank Gibson at [email protected].

All members of the community are invited to attend, bring their family and friends, and enjoy the show. The Friends of the Arts would like to offer special thanks to the Division of Parks and Recreation, the Saipan Mayor’s Office, and to its sponsors for their support.

The Friends of the Arts is your local community theater organization that promotes performing arts through hosting several plays each year. For more information or to make ticket reservations contact Frank Gibson through email at [email protected].
