FRANK Sablan clinched the Amigos Golf Club’s June Ace of the Month title on Sunday at the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort east course.
In the qualifying round held on June 4, Sablan cleared the 18 holes with a gross of 77. His 10 handicap propelled him to the front of the competition with a net score of 67.
The ace round last Sunday proved to be a bit tougher due to the weather conditions as Sablan ended with a gross of 80. But his handicap gave him a net score of 70 and a net total of 137 which brought him first place and the June Ace of the Month title.
In second place was Ben Jones Sr. who shot a gross of 84 in the qualifying round. With a 16 handicap, his net score was 68. In the ace round, he shot a gross of 86 which, minus his handicap, gave him a net score of 70 and a net total of 138.
Twenty-four players competed for the coveted monthly title.
It was truly Sablan’s month as he also captured two closest to the pin awards in the optional play for holes #4 and #6. Al Aldan took hole #11 while Joe Torres ruled hole #15. Players received $120 for each hole.
The July qualifier is scheduled for July 9, 8:30 a.m. at Laolao Bay Golf & Resort east course while the Ace round will be held on July 23, 8:30 a.m. at the west course.
