SAIPAN International School has earned a title shot in the girls high school division of the NMIFA-PSS Interscholastic Soccer League after defeating Saipan Southern High School, 7-2, in a semifinal match Tuesday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.

Kaithlyn Chavez single-handedly secured the win for SIS as she scored all seven goals. Her dribbling skills, along with speed and experience, were unmatched as she slipped through defenders with ease and connected the opening goal just two minutes into the first half.

She continued to punish SSHS by scoring four more goals to extend the lead going into halftime, 4-0.

Her teammates tried to get in the action, but failed to find the back of the net. Chavez, however, continued to deliver, scoring two more goals at the 28th and 38th minute marks.

SSHS did not go down without a fight, thanks to Megan Elayda and Summer Manahane who drained a goal each at the 45th and 46th minute marks.

But Chavez scored again minutes later to secure the win for SIS, 7-2.

Today, Thursday, May 11, SIS will face Marianas High School for the championship  at 4:30 p.m. at the NMI Soccer Training Center.
