(DPS) — On Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2023 at about 11:33 p.m., a disturbance was reported at Pakpak beach park in San Antonio.
A witness said a white Toyota Corolla that was involved in the disturbance had fled the beach at a high rate of speed and headed north.
An off duty police officer later observed the vehicle on Beach Road in Susupe, heading north at a high rate of speed.
Officers later made contact with the vehicle at a residence in San Jose. As officers conducted their investigation, they observed that the operator of the Corolla, identified as Kelvin C. Sanchez, 35, was under the influence of alcohol.
He was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. During his detention, he was found to be in possession of a glass pipe that contained white residue. A field test was later done on the residue and resulted in presumptive positive for methamphetamine.
The Toyota Corolla was impounded and during inventory, officers discovered plastic bags with white crystal substance and glass pipes with white residue. Both items tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine.
Additionally, a black SR-9 Sarsilmaz handgun with no serial number and ammunition were found inside the vehicle.
Sanchez was booked at the Department of Corrections.
