NO Excuse third baseman Kimo Angailen topped the 2023 Budweiser Belau Softball Association Softball League’s Homerun Derby at the Dandan ball field on Sunday.
The 12 top hitters of the league competed in the derby. They were Angailen, his team mates JD Magofna, Verlance Secharmidal and Marvin Kaipat; Bat Boyz’s Lamarc Iguel, Harry Nakamura, Ervin Saralu and Henry Fleming; Just 4 Fun’s Nate Camacho, Jordan Suel and Ton Salas; and Team Mac’s Mac Scaliem.
In the first round, Angailen and Salas homered five of 10 pitches while Camacho notched four to secure third place.
Angailen started strong in the second round, firing three homeruns in five pitches while Salas blasted three homeruns out of nine pitches.
Tied at three homeruns each, Angailen and Salas squared off in a five-pitch swing off.
Angailen, who launched four HRs, clinched victory after Salas’s fourth shot didn’t make it out of the fence.
