Eugene Tebuteb, director of employment services of the CNMI Department of Labor, conducts outreach training at the multi-purpose center on Friday, Oct. 13, 2023.
THE CNMI Department of Labor held a compliance outreach training session on Friday, Oct. 13 at the multi-purpose center, where it discussed a wide range of topics to keep government and private sector employers in good standing with CNMI DOL.
Thirty-six people attended the morning, afternoon, and evening sessions.
According to Eugene Tebuteb, CNMI DOL director of employment services, the event was to “improve CNMI workforce data collection through submission of quarterly compliance reports, total workforce listing, and data obtained from W-2CM forms.”
There were presentations on local and federal labor reporting requirements; common reporting errors; the W-2CM; an overview of CNMI DOL forms; tips to stay in compliance with the CNMI DOL, and more.
Participants came from human resources, payroll, document handling, accounting, and other departments of business organizations.
Mariana Coates, a statistical analyst at CNMI DOL, said the training could help employers stay up to date.
“The [CNMI DOL forms] have been upgraded over time,” she said. “At this time, the form is pretty much easier for the user and also to us data collectors.”
Tebuteb said CNMI DOL plans to conduct more outreach and training sessions.
