AFTER colliding with another vehicle, a white sedan slammed into a power pole, catching fire on Dandan’s main road Thursday morning.

Both drivers were brought to the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation, but they did not sustain serious injuries, Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services public information officer Robert Mojica said.

According to DFEMS, on July 6, at 8:50 a.m., a female caller reported that there was a vehicle on fire after crashing into a power pole and knocking it down on the main road in Dandan.

Forestry-4, Medic-4 & 2, Rescue-1, and Engine 5 responded to the incident location at 8:52 a.m.

Arriving on the scene, DFEMS responders saw the vehicle fully engulfed and immediately suppressed the vehicle fire.

Medic 2 & 4 transported both drivers to the hospital.

The Division of Fire and Prevention and Arson Investigation is investigating the cause of the fire.

As of Thursday afternoon, the Department of Public Safety had not issued a statement regarding the incident.

Variety learned that the impact of the vehicle slamming into the power pole disconnected residents in the area from the primary line.

Commonwealth Utilities Corporation safety compliance officer Joe Lizama told Variety that he was in the area to assess the accident and the interruption of power services.

CUC said its line crew would also replace the wooden power pole.
