Man charged in two Humåtak burglaries

HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — A man accused of stealing a rental car in August was charged after he was reported to police for burglarizing a residence.

Jimmy Aguon Quinata was charged in the Superior Court of Guam on Wednesday with burglary to a motor vehicle, burglary as second-degree felonies and theft of property as a third-degree felony and as a misdemeanor.

Quinata’s charges stem from a report of a burglarized Ford Mustang on Aug. 3 at Fort Soledad in Humåtak.

Court documents state the reporting person said he had rented the Mustang, and he discovered the cloth convertible top on the passenger side of the car had been cut.

“Items valued at approximately $1,377 had been stolen from inside the vehicle,” the complaint stated. The charging documents also stated investigators were able to lift fingerprints from the passenger window and surrounding area.

Officers later spoke with a man who said Quinata told him he had stolen a black bag from a vehicle and allegedly saw Quinata walking away from the vehicle as the renter of the Mustang was approaching it.

On Oct. 4, officers were dispatched to a Humåtak residence and spoke with a woman who said Quinata “had broken into the residence and stole items valued at approximately $100 and broke door handles,” according to court documents.
