The Board of Education on Thursday declared the week of May 22-26, 2023 as the Public School System Service Members Appreciation Week to honor all the sacrifices of the islands’ service members including their spouses and families. Two Vietnam War veterans from the CNMI, former Senate President Pete P. Reyes and current BOE Vice Chairman Herman Atalig, joined other veterans and current PSS-JROTC instructors and employees at the proclamation signing ceremony. Atalig signed the proclamation which was concurred by BOE Chairman Antonio L. Borja and witnessed by BOE Secretary/Treasurer Gregory Pat Borja, himself a veteran, BOE members Maisie B. Tenorio and Andrew L. Orsini, Teacher Representative Dr. Dora B. Miura, Student Representative Ryan Michael Nuera, and Commissioner of Education Dr. Alfred B. Ada.
