THE House Special Committee on Federal Assistance & Disaster-Related Funding will decide on Tuesday if former Gov. Ralph DLG Torres and other former administration officials will be summoned in an ongoing investigation of the $17 million Building Optimism, Opportunities and Stability Together or BOOST program.
Rep. Ralph N. Yumul, who chairs the special panel, scheduled a meeting for 2 p.m., Oct. 24, 2023, in the House chamber.
The agenda includes the names of individuals who, besides Torres, could be issued subpoenas duces tecum and subpoena testificandum:
Former Finance Secretary David DLG Atalig, former Department of Commerce-Economic Development Director Jesus Taisague, former Office of the Governor Chief of Staff William Castro, BOOST program contractors Shayne Villanueva, Rob Travilla and Salina Sapp.
The House special panel was activated earlier this month to “continue the final leg of the investigation” into the BOOST program and other federal fund expenditures in an effort to recover federal funds that Gov. Arnold I. Palacios’ administration believes were misspent.
On Tuesday, Yumul said they will also review their legal authority to conduct an investigation, the rules and parameters, among other things, before voting on who to summon to a hearing.
