Kanoa, Shirley’s advance to U12 boys soccer finals

KANOA and Shirley’s football clubs will battle it out for the U12 boys division title of the TakeCare Youth Soccer League at 6 p.m. this Saturday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.

Kanoa earned their title shot with ease after manhandling the Matansa Football Club, 9-0.

Kanoa established control early with three goals scored in the first half.

After five minutes of play, Iziah Tenorio ignited Kanoa’s offensive spark with the opening goal. Team mate RJ Manabat followed up with his contribution. Tenorio then scored his second goal of the day for a comfortable 3-0 Kanoa lead.

In the second half, Matansa failed to stop Kanoa’s scoring spree.

Tenorio and Manabat kept Kanoa’s momentum burning with three consecutive goals while team mates Anton Rogopoa and Pedro Taitano took over the remainder of the match with two and one goals, respectively,  en route to a blowout victory, 9-0.

Shirley’s vs Southern United

Shirley’s Football Club reached the finals by edging the Southern United Football Club.

Both teams played as equals with nail-biting attempts and endless exchanges.

After a scoreless first half, Shirley’s managed to slip through the cracks of SUFC’s defensive wall, eventually finding Mayten Pino who delivered what would be the game-winning shot at the 40th minute mark.

SUFC still had time to even the score, but Shirley’s defended well to secure a 1-0 win.
