HYUN “Sunny” Son shot a net score of 73 to win the CNMI Women’s Golf Association’s November tournament at Laolao Bay Golf & Resort on Saturday.
Son found her downswing on the front nine and led by as much as three strokes with a gross score of 41. Although the rest of the competition improved their scores in the transition to the back nine, so did Son by a stroke as she ended with a gross of 40 for a total of 81.
Sporting a handicap of 8, her net score was 73, which was more than enough to secure the November title.
In second place was last month’s winner, Lydia Tan. She started strong by closing the front nine with a gross of 44, but struggled on the back nine and ended with a gross of 50 for a gross total of 94. Despite a handicap of 19, she was behind Son by two strokes, and had to settle for second place with a net score of 75.
In third place was Sae Hee Kim who shot a gross of 43 on the front and back nines for a gross total of 86. With a handicap of 8, her net score was 78.
