HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — A man accused of “always” taking items from a gas station allegedly told officers “everyone should take what they need from stores.”
About 5 a.m. Sunday, officers with the Guam Airport Police responded to a disturbance at the 76 gas station on Airport Road.
According to a magistrate’s complaint, a cashier said a man she knew as “Jeff” and later identified as Jeff Ourun, came to the station earlier in the day. The woman said, “Jeff always takes items from the store.”
The woman said Ourun opened a beer and poured it into a foam cup before leaving. Ourun then came a second time, according to the woman, and began to grab food and attempted to take it before the cashier told Ourun to put the items back.
The cashier told police she feared for her safety.
Police later found Ourun trying to climb over a nearby fence after throwing his backpack over. Ourun was noted by police to have slurred speech, bloodshot, watery eyes, and a strong smell of alcohol on his breath.
“(The) defendant said that it was OK for him to take the beer because everyone should take what they need from stores,” according to the complaint.
Ourun was charged with harassment and disorderly conduct as petty misdemeanors.
