THE Tinian Municipal Council is asking the U.S. military to help repair the island’s health and aging centers.
In her letter to Capt. Matthew C. Jacobs, U.S. Air Force 513rd Expeditionary Red Horse Squadron officer-in-charge for Tinian, acting Municipal Council Chairwoman Ana Marie C. San Nicolas said the roof of the health center is leaking while the aging center has been having problems with plumbing and lighting systems. For their part, CNMI departments and agencies, she added, are experiencing “budgetary difficulties.”
“I am respectfully asking for your assistance in addressing crucial maintenance concerns at the Tinian Health Center and the Tinian Aging Center, specifically with repairing the roof leak, as well as the plumbing and lighting issues at the Tinian Aging Center.”
She said these issues pose a potential risk to the health and safety of the Tinian community, especially the elderly.
“They need these places to be safe, secure and conveniently accessible. In order to reduce the likelihood of any accident, we must address these issues,” San Nicolas said.
