Saipan Chamber of Commerce awards scholarships to NMC, NMTech students

THE Saipan Chamber of Commerce awarded scholarships to 12 students of Northern Marianas College and six students of the Northern Marianas Technical Institute on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at the Hyatt Regency Saipan during the chamber’s general membership meeting.

The recipients from NMC are Rabeya Akter, Richard Baleares, Christine Barrozo, Alieza Biffedo, Aniah Chargualaf, Ardel Ciolo, Yi Huang, Arianna Kaileo, Ayesha Mustansar, Xinyi “Rain” Ni, Maxine Rabago, and Katriel Saures.

The recipients from NMTech are Hannah Blanco, Patrick Espiritu, Dennis Jacoba, Kevin Lizama, Haiou Sakisat, and Derek Tupas.

All NMC students were recipients of the Chamber Education Scholarship, while NMTech students received the Pellegrino Scholarship. Both scholarships provide “one-time monetary awards” directly to the educational institution on behalf of the students. 

As part of the selection process, students were required to write a 1,000-word essay, which named an important issue on island and how their career or trade would help the student address the issue.
