Tinian’s 4th Annual Gineptin Ha’anen Taga Festival set for Oct. 20-21

TINIAN (Office of the Mayor) — Tinian is all set to host the much-anticipated 4th Annual Gineptin Ha’anen Taga Festival, a vibrant celebration of the Chamorro culture and the legendary Maga’låhi or Chief Taga. This event is scheduled to take place on Oct. 20-21, 2023, at the Tinian Fiesta Grounds.

Festivities include a sling competition for juniors, males, and females, Batsu dance competition and a Chamorro karaoke contest. Tinian’s annual Taga Festival promises a weekend filled with delectable traditional cuisine, arts and crafts, games and activities, and captivating live entertainment for everyone to enjoy.

The legendary Maga’låhi Taga, whose historical significance is deeply rooted in the hearts of the Chamorro people, is celebrated during this annual gathering, serving as a reminder of the island’s unique cultural heritage and the importance of preserving our culture for future generations.

Tinian Mayor Edwin P. Aldan expresses his excitement for this annual event and believes that this is a true testament to our commitment to preserving and promoting our Chamorro culture.
