HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — Tropical Storm Bolaven’s impending approach to Guam didn’t stop operations at the Guam International Airport on Monday, but travelers could be left grounded on Tuesday.
As of 3 p.m. Monday, A.B. Won Pat International Airport Authority Executive Manager John Quintana told the Guam Daily Post that they have not received any flight cancellations, and in fact, the airport remained open at the time.
“It’s the airlines call when to cancel flights,” Quinata said.
United Airlines took the morning to monitor the weather situation and in the afternoon advised that impacts from Bolaven may affect certain flights.
The airlines stated in a release that “flights between Guam and Saipan may be affected beginning on Tuesday, Oct. 10.”
Although the airline did not confirm cancellations of flights they did encourage United customers to visit their website for updated information.
“United encourages all customers traveling to and from Guam and Saipan within the next few days to visit united.com or the United app to receive the most current information about their upcoming flights. Customers needing assistance with changes to their itinerary can also call 1-800-UNITED-1 (1-800-864-8331),” the release said.
