CPA’s Frank Robert pulls up for the contested jumper during a 2023 R&J Wine and Liquor Inter-Government/Business League game on Saturday at the Ada gym.
CPA outlasted CHCC, 70-62, in the R&J Wine and Liquor Inter-Government/Business League on Saturday at the Ada gym.
CPA had a strong start and found their rhythm in the first quarter. Ball movement highlighted the first five minutes with David Camacho finishing strong with seven points to give his team the lead, 15-6.
CHCC gradually worked their way back within reach during the second canto. Jack Lizama used his reliable jump shot to deliver 10 points while teammate DJ Ong converted seven points — including one triple — as CHCC trailed by just six points, 31-37.
In the third period, CHCC finally held the upper hand but only for a moment as CPA’s Frank Robert and Donavan Brennan stepped up with clutch shots to regain the driver’s seat, 53-52.
CHCC’s Lizama lost his soft touch, which gave CPA the opportunity to regain a safe distance. CHCC relied on Ong’s offensive production but it wasn’t enough to close the gap, allowing CPA to run away with the victory, 70-62.
