(NMIBF) — The Northern Mariana Islands Basketball Federation will hold a September pre-series tournament in preparation for the Marianas 3X3 Basketball Series. The goal of this pre-series tournament is to familiarize all teams and players with the format, rules and regulations, and how the games are conducted.
This exhibition is only to help prepare teams and players, and is not counted toward the actual Marianas 3X3 Series.
Teams for this tournament can be temporary but the teams registered for the actual Marianas 3X3 Series cannot be changed after the start of the October tournament.
Exhibition information
• Venue: Oleai Complex, Ada Gym
• Format: Open divisions for both men and women
• Proposed start dates: Sept. 28, 29, 30
• Entrance fee per team: free
• Registration/roster/waiver forms deadline: Sept. 25, 2023. First come, first served.
League format
▪ Maximum of 12 teams for men and eight for women
▪ Single round robin/two pools (Pool A & Pool B)
▪ Knockout round: Top four teams advance from each pool for men, and top two teams from each pool for women.
▪ All teams will not be given points during this tournament and will not count toward the actual Marianas 3×3 Series.
▪ All games will be played under FIBA 3×3 rules and regulations.
