(MVA) — The Marianas Visitors Authority is taking the Marianas global with one of the most iconic brands in the world, National Geographic.

Full-page  ads  featuring  Saipan,  Tinian,  and  Rota  are  being  placed  in  the  October, November, and December 2023 print and digital issues of the award-winning National Geographic Traveller (UK).  The magazine “seeks to extol great storytelling, authentic travel experiences and “you-are-there” photography, with insightful information to help would-be explorers travel widely and safely. It aims to inspire those who are passionate about experiencing the world, championing sustainable travel and celebrating journeys with a local and cultural perspective.”

The publication has 25,000 subscribers for its printed version with a total readership view of approximately  120,000 per issue.   Additionally,  the digital version has 600,000 downloads of the National Geographic Traveller mobile app that allows consumers to have direct access to view each issue published.

“MVA is engaging the worldwide travelling community and spreading the Marianas name globally, and National Geographic Traveller (UK) is a very reputable and cost-effective  way to do so,” said MVA Managing Director Christopher A.  Concepcion.   “Promoting  our destination through  this global platform  will not only spread awareness  of the Marianas  destination  in the European  market, but  also to  avid  and FIT  travelers  all throughout  the  world  to consider  the Marianas as their next destination to travel.   The first issue is already being circulated, and we’re seeing traffic being driven to our website  and even phone  calls to our office in just  the first few days.”

The  ads are embedded  with a QR code leading to the official MVA website  in English, allowing the tourism office to track the number of visits to the website generated by the ads.   The first ad features the azure waters of Saipan’s  award-winning  Managaha,  the most visited tourist site in the Marianas.

National  Geographic  Traveller  (UK) was named Best Consumer  Travel  Magazine  at the British Travel Awards 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2019. The advertising campaign is federally funded under the Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery.
